Another Dollar Bill Coin.......
This is thier third attempt! It didn't work before and it won't work now. The House of Representatives voted 422 to 6 to move forward on it. Well, thats all well and good, but nobody wants them. NOBODY WANTS THEM. When trying to give out those stupid Sacagawea coins, people were often confused and pissed off thinking you were cheating them. When it wasn't that, it was people wanting to get the bills instead. The coke machines ate them and small businesses wouldn't take them. It's just a waste of time... Putting all that aside, the coins are bulky and heavy. Toating a pocket full of those, or even two, make your pockets stick out.
I know that financially this is a good move. The coins are more durable and thier cost/benefit ratio is high. Thats never been the problem...

This pisses me off royally! Running a retail store is hard enough without having to explain to people when you try to give them as change. Or having them the same size as quarters on a day when you're slammed and a sales girl that's not paying attention is a nightmare. Also in small registers there's no place for them... Coke machines never know what to do with them... the list goes on.

Hey, maybe they can use the coins as paver stones.

I personally liked the dollar coins and used to get them at the bank whenever I had to do business inside. The problem is not that they are popular, it is that you usually will never get one since everyone still uses the paper. If they made all the paper ones no longer accepted, of course the coins would be in business.
For myself, I would rather they go to all coins and eliminate the paper play money. While it is a bit heavy when you have quite a bit, most people do not carry a lot of cash anyway nowadays. It also helps when you happen to have that $50 in your pants when you wash them if they are coins :)
One thing they need to do though, is to make them different from the rest of the money. It would make more sense to me to have size show value so that a penny would be the smallest of coins and a $50 coin would be the size of the old silver dollar (large). Since you will usually have more of the lower value and less of the larger.
