Cinemas Consider Using Cell Phone Jammers ~ Good or Bad?

I'm not sure what to think about this. When cell phones ring during your first run of a good movie, it sucks. However, what if there is an emergency? Is there any emergency that requires instant contact? Didn't we get along just fine before cell phones? What do yall think? Keep in mind, there is no serious damage to the cell phones caused by the jammers.

Mr. Cat, I think people hate cell phones far more than they should.

It's the Palm Pilot morons I want to strangle!

Palm Pilots are more like camoflauged gaming consoles... Important people think you are important, while your playing pong or tetris...

I pretty much feel that cell phone ownvers should use the other features that the companies put in their phones. A vibrate pager, for example. Even a beeping one only beeps, and the cellphone owner can then have the courtesy to exit the movie room and take their call in the hallway.

... anyway, it would be nice... ;8^)

If they jam cell phones, I'll have to quit going to movies. I need to know that my babysitter can reach me in an emergency.

I think some well-placed signs and some on-screen pre-movie "please set phones to vibrate/quiet mode" notices would go a long way to help. I think most people simply forget about it.

i think everyone should just have some civic mindness to put their phones on silent during movies...its the people's attitude..we have those pre-movie advice, etc..but idiots still do idiotic stuff

I like the idea but you bring up a good point about emergencies. I'm sure parents who left their kids with babysitters would hate the idea. Nice blog.

If they really want to sell some popular technology, come up with a device that forces phones off "ring" to "vibrate"! Everybody still gets their calls, but no disturbing ring.

'Course you still have those people that hold conversations in the middle of the movie...
